Lower School - Grades K-2
Located at 1821-39 Cecil B. Moore, our Lower School Building is nestled in the heart of the Temple University community. The Lower School Building is a lovely 2 story building with a connecting school yard and lovely playground area where over a hundred and sixty children learn, play and develop each day. In the rear of our playground is a wonderful vegetable garden in which our aftercare students care for in conjunction with Urban Tree Connection and volunteer students from the Messiah College. All children come to school daily in full uniform ready to learn. Our 9 classrooms are fully staffed with Teachers and Para-Educators. Although we have additional buildings for our older students, all students receive the same supports and specialty subjects school wide which includes: special education, small group reading support, behavioral modification support, as well as full access to the school counselor. In addition, we have a state of the art Cybrary which we use for read aloud and demonstrations on our Interactive Boards, a mobile laptop lab and a fully staffed Physical Education and Art Departments. The Lower School Building also has their very own cafeteria where food is provided from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
Mrs. Lloyd, the Principal, is a Temple University Alumni who enjoys the partnerships our school has created with Community leaders from Temple University, Beech Interplex and other local businesses. Mrs. Lloyd supervises all of the staff members in this building, the day to day operations, discipline, maintenance and security for the Lower School. She can be found daily visiting classrooms, and monitoring the learning process of our students in this building throughout the day and she is available every morning and evening to meet with parents. She also drives all of the special events school wide and coordinates all Family Unity Night events throughout the entire school year. It is her vision to continue to increase a strong parent support network, where parents can be found often volunteering in a classroom, the cafeteria, or making donations to the building. Many of the parents from the Lower School Building serve as leaders for the Parent Advisory Board and are active participants with our leadership team in decision making. For tours of our building, please contact Mrs. Lloyd in our Lower School office at 215-232-4892 or by email at tlloyd@afpcs.org for an appointment. |
