4th Floor Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

On November 16, 2023, AFPCS hosted a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony on the 4th floor of our elementary school. The event celebrated the completion of construction of the floor and the naming of the Marilyn H. Rivers Innovation Lab. Attendees of the event were also invited to participate in a silent auction which showcased student and staff art, gift baskets, and jewelry. All proceeds from the auction will directly support programming at the school. The Innovation Lab will be a place where all students will have the opportunity to engage in STEM-focused learning activities so they can thrive in a technologically oriented world. The 4th floor will also be the new home of our 6th grade students.

For those who may not know, Mrs. Marilyn H. Rivers is the late co-founder of Alliance For Progress Charter School, and steadfast public advocate for children and families in Philadelphia. We are excited to uphold the legacy of Mrs. Rivers and continue to support our students at AFPCS. If you would like to support the Marilyn H. Rivers Innovation Lab and other initiatives at the school, you are welcome to make a donation via our donation page (click here)

Our ribbon cutting ceremony was also featured on the front page of the December 2023 Charter Schools Office Newsletter! The Charter Schools Office (CSO) is our partner in ensuring that we maintain high standards at AFPCS, and we’re glad that members of their team were in attendance at the ceremony. Thank you for your continued partnership, CSO! To learn more about the Charter Schools Office, please visit their website via this link (click here).
